Ride Report for July 20, 2010
by bryan
Riders: Doc, Charlie, Tater, DTM, TTW, Oz, Rox, Kevin, RBCGuy Lovie, PJ (11
years old!!!) and his dad, Dookie found us for part of the ride, Andy & Candy
for the first third, and I...

I will work on this report as my family watches a bad episode of Americas Got
Talent! Great night to ride - great size group - climbed farside... warm
enough out there to break a nice little cleansing sweat, but not killer... Had
a small hiccup at first with Taters chain, but he put another master on, and
we were good to go... Andy did alright despite his knee - he was trying it
out with a brace to see how much it could take - to fight off the depression
of not being able to ride :( hope that heals soon.
Let's see if I can get this right... after the saddle to re-group, took off on
flood control (?) - the one with the rocks you can pop up onto, go across the
little gap, then roll down the rock with a good little drop... curved right
through the sand to... pepper trees (?), to take Twisty - I followed Tater off
the new little rock section at the end... fun - it looked worse than it really
was at the last little part...

From there, Oz, Andy and Candy took Nettles to the end of Moab, while most
others took double dip - that was the last I saw of A & C...
Then headed across the bridges to storage plant. South (?) arroyo, upper and
lower Dookies, mini moab, re-grouped - only to find Lovie coming out the river
crossing with his bar totally twisted! Glad to hear his stem was just loose,
and didnt cause a fall! Getting pretty dark, so we head back fenceline and
middle (?).
DTM, Oz, and Tater took bench, only find a guy we saw a few times out riding
in his crocs (shoes)! They saw him take a good OTB at the top of rattlesnake -
I believe they watched him for a while, to make sure he was pointed in the
right direction - We waited in the central lot, and he made it - with a pretty
banged up knee it looked like....

For my exit, I was following Charlie - cant say enough how sweet the luge is!
I am sure you all know that though! ;)

As for PJ the 11 year old - he did amazing! Climbed, descended, did it all!
But then again, he was a bmx racer! ;) I cant say he is going to be a great
rider one day... he already is!

Thanks for the ride everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mileage: dont know - but had a blast!
Fun: 10!

Andy, Candace, Lovie, JP and JPs Dad, Oz

A big group of riders came out today.....a couple of new riders including
Lovie who rides with RBC and 11-year-old JP and his Dad (sorry I forgot your
name)....

We decided to ride FarSide to the saddle. Right away Tatertot had a mechanical
(broken chain) but a quick-link saved the day and he was good to go. Everyone
was really impressed with JP who cleaned the first couple of climbs without a
problem. At the saddle, Charlie, Dan, Candace, Bryan and Tatertot and I all
decided to go back down to get another loop in while everyone got to the top.
We then rolled down Flood Control and continued to the Pepper Trees. Some
continued down McTwist while others went straight on the fire-road.
We regrouped at the top of the Nettles. Again the group split up with some
going down the Nettles while others went straight on Double-Dip. Andy and
Candace called it a day and went back towards the EW trail. The rest of us
regrouped at the bottom of mini-Moab.

At some point Dookie joined us after getting out of work. We then all rode as
a big group on North Arroyo to the warehouse. We were all wondering how JP
was doing but he was doing fine and wanted to keep going. So we all went
down South Arroyo then doubled-back and returned towards the Warehouse via the
Moab Ridge trail.

We all then went on X-Trail to Dookies playground then climbed back up on
Jellybean. We then all rode mini-Moab and we split up again with some going
back on Farside while Dan, Tater-tot and I went down Rattlesnake. At this
point Dookie went his own way. On rattlesnake we passed a lone rider and
apparently he went OTB (I didn't see it). DTM decided to stop to make sure
he was OK and we waited for him to get down the chute and we then showed him
the Bench Trail so he could get back out. He was OK so the three of us
continued on Bench Trail. DTM rode down Barbwire with Tatertot and I
continued to the bottom and then all of us rode the mini-Luge.

We all regrouped at the parking lot. Eric (the rider we saw on Rattlesnake)
soon appeared and were glad he was OK. We were all really impressed with
JP....he is the strongest 11-year old I have seen at Sycamore....Troy the Boy
better watch out there's a new kid in town.......
